In early spring of 2020, the United States began to feel the impact of Covid-19 and the sudden need for PPE (personal protection equipment) caused many entrepreneurs, engineers and inventors to create novel ways to address the short supply. The efforts were appreciated by everyone who was impacted by the crisis, however, many of these solutions proved to be time consuming to make and often uncomfortable to wear. 

On March 17th, our founder and inventor, Bob Travis, decided to design a solution with 3 basic criteria, it had to be effective, comfortable and easy to manufacture (and therefore, low cost). After reviewing the research, it became clear that the face-shields were more effective than cloth masks, they were simply too expensive for most people. Thinking outside the box, Bob started with something nearly everyone in America already has, the baseball cap. Caps are comfortable and easy to wear. Using his knowledge of thermoforming he created a molded cap face shield, that is manufactured from a single piece of plastic and even on the most basic piece of forming equipment, it can be formed in 8 seconds. The result was CapN Shield(TM). 

The solution is patent pending and while it was designed to help protect America and the world, we quickly discovered many other uses where dust, debris and splatter could be repelled by our shield. So, you can also wear the shield to protect your pretty mug from paint splatter, splatters of water and grease, sawdust, grass clippings, dirt and anything else that may come your way. (please note the current CapN Shield(TM) material is not designed to replace high impact eye protection).

Why the superhero References? When we searched the internet for the name, CapN Shield(TM), the first items returned were always about superhero shields. We thought this was very appropriate because although you do not need to be a superhero to wear a shield or a mask, we believe that anyone who does during the pandemic, is a superhero in our book. In fact, for every order of 5 shields or more, ordered on our site, CapN Shield LLC will send you an extra shield to donate to a caregiver or other front-line worker.
